THE SASKATCHEWAN DENTAL HYGIENISTS’ ASSOCIATION (SDHA) IS A CORPORATION UNDER THE DENTAL DISCIPLINES ACT. AS OF JULY 1, 2024, THE SDHA OPERATES AS THE COLLEGE OF DENTAL HYGIENISTS OF SASKATCHEWAN (CDHS).
The College of Dental Hygienists of Saskatchewan (CDHS) is the regulatory body “college” for over 700 Registered Dental Hygienists in the province of Saskatchewan.
The CDHS has the duty to:
- serve and protect the public;
- exercise its powers and responsibilities in the public interest and not in the interests of registrants;
- regulate the practice of the profession in accordance with the Act and bylaws;
- assure the public that registrants have the knowledge, skills, and competency to practice the profession.
The CDHS achieves this by establishing, maintaining, and reinforcing:
- standards for registration and licensure
- continuing competency program
- standards of practice
- code of ethics
and by:
- receiving, responding, and acting upon complaints or concerns of a registrant’s practice
- recognizing dental hygiene education programs
